Survey on the Effects of COVID-19 on the Socio-Economic Status and Well-being of women in Arua District Uganda.

Since 2019, the world has been ravaged by the Corona Virus. Corona Virus the virus that causes COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the world health organization causing more than half a million deaths globally. Uganda has been one of the countries affected by the pandemic with over 741 confirmed cases so far.

The government laid down directives to contain the spread of the virus, including lockdowns, curfews, banning of large gatherings, shutting down of schools and a ban on public transport.

However, the after months of this unprecedented catastrophe, global, regional and national economies have crushed and this is presumed to have had a considerable and yet detrimental effect on the livelihoods, welfare and promotion of human rights of all of humanity. It is on this basis that Feminature Uganda seeks to conduct this baseline survey to ascertain the extent to which this pandemic has and continues to impact the lives of our beneficiary communities of the West Nile Region.  

This survey is divided into parts with two sections each; Please answer ALL questions to help us get a picture of the depth of the impacts of this pandemic and how we can best intervene to support women, children and youth in our region. This questionnaire comprises some multiple choice questions and some open ended questions.

The purpose of this survey is to understand the magnitude of the crisis on the well-being of women in Arua district, in terms of the enjoyment of the economic, social and civil rights. The report of this survey will be used to influence tailored actions and interventions to address some of the findings of the survey from an informed point of view.
