About Feminature
Feminature Uganda is a women and youth focused, not-for-profit, non-partisan organization registered in 2016 to spearhead the socio-economic, political transformation of women and youth through initiatives that provide a platform of self-help for participatory advancement of households with women and youth making informed decisions geared towards their own transformation. Feminature looks forward to a community where women, youth and children enjoy equal and equitable rights and opportunities, regardless of their religious profession, race, social-economic standing or sexual orientation. Feminature Uganda is located at Plot 64-66 Arua Avenue P.O Box 999, Arua district.
Feminature Uganda works along four major thematic components: a) Human Rights, Governance; b) Education, Skills and Livelihood development; c) Sexual Reproductive Health and Environment Rights, and d) Policy, Social Research and Advocacy. Our work pivots around rights advocacy and empowerment.
About the Project.
The Skilling Youth for Increased Employability (SKY) implemented by Feminature Uganda with support from the Aga Khan Foundation funded by the European Commission, under pillar 3 of the Covid-19 Response Program.
The COVID-19 response project is a 30 – month project that is geared towards strengthening existing health responses and increase awareness of prevention strategies and support mechanisms, while also working to minimize the mental health and socio-economic impacts of the crisis. The project shall be implemented in the districts of Arua and Kampala with interventions across 2 broad pillars; Pillar 1 of the project shall work through local youth focused private sector partners collaborated with to build employability, social entrepreneurship, and innovation skills among youth, particularly young women. The project includes providing rapid response funds to local district based CSOs to meet identified community needs and disseminating messaging on prevention, protection, and stories of hope to vulnerable groups to respond to the disproportionate effect of the pandemic on youth, including increased mental health needs and sexual and gender-based violence (GBV) and decreased income-earning opportunities, livelihoods skills training and SGBV response services.
The project is aimed at improving the financial knowledge and economic skills for vulnerable young, out of school mothers and teenage fathers in Arua district and surrounding communities. The project shall employ community enterprise identification, development and management to offer market-driven training for young mothers and fathers to take back control of their lives with the necessary skills and knowledge to encourage economic dependence, the development of this project is hinged on situational facts and statistics that reflect the lamentable plight of young mothers and fathers particularly in the face of and amidst the ravaging and scavenging COVID-19 pandemic.
Feminature Uganda now seeks to recruit 2 highly motivated, zealous and innovative individuals to train youth and women in entrepreneurship and enterprise development. The training will be in person and based in Arua city, subsequently, the trainers should be based or ready to stay in Arua city.
Competencies
Self-motivated, innovative, passionate about women empowerment, interactive, top-notch communication skills, understand and practice adult learning principles, shows pride in achievement, conscientious and efficient in meeting commitment & deadlines, shows persistence when faced with challenges, demonstrates competence and mastery in the subject matter. Applicant MUST be comfortable in the use of Lugbarati and the English language as one of the two training languages of the training
Responsibilities & Deliverables
- In liaison with the project coordinator, ensure timely preparation and evaluates the effectiveness of training, learning and assessment activities
- Revise and improve training manual to suit current socio-economic needs of the implementation area
- Participate in the development of self-study booklets to be produced and disseminated to the direct beneficiaries
- Prepares and provide per cohort & monthly training report on the implementation and follow-ups of direct beneficiaries
- Participates in the assessment of training needs
- Train youth and women
- Asses the trainees
- Participate in the review and award of innovative project ideas of participants
- Provide comprehensive end of training report with implementable recommendations to improve, sustain and scale the project
Education
At least a diploma in entrepreneurship, business administration, commerce, economics, social works and administration, public administration and any other related field. A bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
Work experience
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in community learning and development, capacity building and knowledge transfer preferably in the NGOs.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the design and practical delivery of formal training sessions and programmes is required.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is required
Note:
