Camp Kennedy Alumnus Bwambale Thomas Muhuwa Starts Own Initiative

We commissioned our 105 participants in last years’ Camp Kennedy Project on December 2nd, 2019. Now we are proud to document the formation of a youth-led initiative by one of our Alumnus Thomas Darwin. (Real Name: Bwambale Thomas Muhiwa).

His initiative, ‘United Youth Conservation Initiative’ based in Kasese district was prompted by the 2016 post-election violence in Kasese that resulted in the death of over 180 people, 70% of whom were youth.

‘I have decided to mobilize my friends and come up with a cabinet of twenty (20) members to form an initiative that engages youth in different activities that make them of good influence to others,’ says Thomas.

The initiative undertakes conversation of the environment through tree planting, drama, debate, and sports so as to keep youth busy as opposed to indulging in drug and substance abuse, theft and other criminal acts.

The initiatives make mosquito repellent briquettes so that its members can earn a living from it. Thomas wants to be a pilot in the future. We wish you success in all your endeavors. God speed! We are proud of you!
